The Ritual

Wrap. Sleep. Unwrap.

Three steps. Eight hours of sleep. Soft beachy waves on the other side. The trick was never the iron.

  1. 01 Wrap

Wrap damp hair around the rod.

Centre the satin rod on top of your head. Split your hair at the nape, wrap each side away from your face. Secure with the silk scrunchies.

  2. 02 Sleep

Sleep with it on. All night.

The rod is memory foam — soft enough to sleep on, structured enough to hold. Eight hours of rest, eight hours of wave-setting, no effort required from you.

  3. 03 Unwrap

    Wake up. Unwrap slowly. Done.

No brush — finger-comb through. Optional texture spray. The waves are soft on day one, beachier on day two, lived-in on day three. Hair that looks like the ocean's been in it.

The Sleep Curler

Where Solène began —

Two friends.
One tired iron.

We started Solène because we got tired of cooking our hair every morning. The women whose hair we wanted — French, Italian, the kind that looks like the ocean's been in it — weren't using $300 curling tools. They were sleeping in scrunchies. Wrapping damp hair around silk. Letting their hair do its own slow work overnight.

So we made the tools to make that easier. Soft satin rods, real silk accessories, the kind of pieces you'd find in your grandmother's drawer if your grandmother was on holiday in Saint-Tropez.

with love, Solène

The first thing my husband said in the morning was «what did you do to your hair». I didn't do anything. I slept.

I'd been heat-styling since I was 14. Six months in, my hair is the longest it's been since college and softer than it's ever felt. I'm never going back.

Brought it to Tulum. Brought it to Lisbon. Now it's just in my carry-on by default. The only styling tool I own.

The trick was never the iron.

The trick is letting your hair sleep with you.

Asked, often

Six things people ask before their first night.

If you have a question that isn't here, we answer our own emails.

Write to us
Does it really work overnight?

Yes — and the trick is damp hair, not wet, not dry. Wrap away from your face, sleep, unwrap slowly with your fingers. If your hair isn't holding, your hair was probably too dry when you wrapped it. We've yet to find a hair type it doesn't work on.

My hair is very fine / very thick. Will it still curl?

Yes to both. Fine hair holds curl with less tension — wrap a little looser. Thick hair needs the wave to set for longer — wrap earlier in the evening, ideally a couple of hours before bed.

How long do the curls last?

Day one: defined waves. Day two: soft, lived-in beach waves (most people's favorite). Day three: hair texture, second-day hair done well. After that, light damp on the ends + a re-wrap brings them back.

Can I actually sleep on it?

The rod is memory foam, designed to be slept on. Most customers don't notice it after the first night. Side-sleepers, back-sleepers — both work.

How does shipping work?

We ship from a US warehouse, 5–8 business days within the US, 7–12 days to EU. Free on orders over $50. Tracking is automatic. Most kits arrive in a week.

What if I don't like it?

30 days from when it lands at your door. Unused, in the original packaging. We email you a return label, no questions asked. We just want to know what didn't work — it helps us make the next version better.
